Connections

Connections programming supports students displaying chronic, extreme and pervasive behaviours. Students require close and constant adult supervision and a high level of structure to function in an educational setting. To be eligible for this programme, students must be in grades 1 to 6 with severe emotional and behavioural challenges and have a clinical diagnosis from a qualified psychologist or psychiatrist.

The goals of the program are to help students develop and demonstrate emotional self-regulation, positive behaviour, social skills, and academic progress so that, eventually, they may be successfully re-integrated back into a mainstream classroom.

At Belvedere, the program will be delivered in grades 3 to 5 for the 2024-2025 school year. The classroom has one teacher and one educational assistant. Typical enrolment is 8 students. The classroom environment is structured, with predictable and articulated routines, procedures, expectations, and schedules.

Yellow busing of students to this program may be available, depending on the child’s walking distance to the school. For more information about busing, contact your child’s school or call Student Transportation at 780-429-8585.
